It took DJ Latinchat two deep reggaeton - or cosmic dembow as he dubbed them back then - tracks uploaded casually online at the end of 2022 to put his name on the map. Carrying that momentum into 2023, the Peruvian producer proved that he has got much more to offer as his ambitious way of merging dancehall, reggaeton and more with electronic music resulted in rhythmically complex tracks (spread across his official debut release and several compilation contributions, including NAAFI's Pirata series) that started landing in the sets of the scene's most influential figures like Dengue Dengue Dengue, Manuka Honey, CRRDR, Bitter Babe and Parzubanil.

2024 sees DJ Latinchat debuting on Basy Tropikalne with 'Tagadá', a carefully crafted EP featuring many hidden references. The release kicks off with 'Zwelve', a dark dancehall song built around a 303 bassline that also contains tumbao rhythm patterns inspired by Afro-Cuban music. A title track comes next, bringing faster tempo and a somewhat upbeat mood but with its broken beat and surprising switch to 6/8 time signature in its second part, the song is definitely not just another straightforward club music tune. Original part of the release finishes with reggaeton-based 'Bomber', a track profiting from DJ Latinchat's experiments with heavily processed samples.

The EP is then enriched by three distinctive remixes. Egyptian producer 3Phaz - who just made it to the year-end lists on Pitchfork, The Quietus and Bandcamp for his groundbreaking 2023 releases on TraTraTrax and Discrepant - adds heat to 'Bomber' by turning it into a true percussive feast while Argentina's EL PLVYBXY transforms 'Tagadá' into a thumping dancefloor killer. Fresh off her Hyperdub-released album, it is Uruguay's Lila Tirando a Violeta who closes the EP with an outstanding soundscape, intertwining 'Zwelve' with layers of her voice, nature samples and more.
