A new EP from DJ Latinchat. Side A, ‘Místico Divino’, is a hard-hitting, dancefloor-oriented track that uses vocal samples from a political-religious speech to create a dark and mysterious atmosphere. Rhythmically, the track is built around a heavy four-four kick drum, over which syncopated and off-beat rhythms unfold, heavily influenced by the Peruvian ‘festejo’. The second track, ‘Tira’, uses vocal samples from old-school reggaeton and layers them over a track with a dembow rhythm section. This track is considerably more light-hearted and contemplative than the first, geared more towards listening than the dance floor.

The EP is rounded off with a remix of ‘Místico Divino’ by Selvagia, a Peruvian producer known for his use of raw textures and complex, broken and deconstructed rhythms. Selvagia’s remix begins with a dancehall beat at 85 bpm before evolving into a rhythmic chaos in double time.
